TERMS & CONDITIONS


Welcome to The Master Art Prize web site located at www.masterartprize.com (“Site”). The following terms of use (“Terms”) govern your use of this Site. By accessing, viewing, or using the content, material, or services available on or through this Site, you indicate that you have read and understand these Terms, that you agree to them and intend to be legally bound by them. If you do not agree to these Terms, you are not granted permission to use this Site and must exit immediately.

The information on this Site is for informational purposes only. Without limiting anything else in these Terms or otherwise, The Master Art Prize is not responsible for any errors or omissions in the Site or Site Materials.


1. Eligibility

The Master Art Prize rewards the art of the 21st century.

The Master Art Prize is open to all artists.

Any artist over 15 may submit an application.

Artists must have an Instagram (public) account and follow @masterartprize

Artists may fill in the online form.

The Master Art Prize is now open to Art  & Creative Organizations.


2. Artwork submission 

Artists can also submit one or several works by email at masterartprize[at]mail[dot]com

Works must be recent, from 21st century, preferably dating after 2015. 

Images should show the complete work being submitted. Please note that the judgement is done digitally. It is therefore important that the photographs uploaded are of a high quality and as clear as possible.


3. Application

Applications are to be submitted through our online form. If there is a lack of information required and/or payment, the application will not be accepted.

The application is free for artists. Galleries, companies and organizations must pay a submission fee, after have been shortlisted by the jury.

The application fee is non-refundable and used for the sole purpose of running the prize. You will not be refunded the fee if you later decide to withdraw your application from the prize and/or if you don’t get shortlisted. 


4. Intellectual property rights 

By entering the competition, you warrant that you are the sole copyright owner of the work submitted and that you have the right to enter the photograph into the competition. You must hold all moral and intellectual property rights for all the artworks submitted for the prize. You agree to supply high resolution images suitable for print and online use as a condition of participating in the Prize.

The participants authorize the MAP to publish their works for promotional purposes, in any form, including on marketed media for the benefit of the MAP.

Artists retain all copyright to work submitted to the site. When you submit work to the Site, you grant The Master Art Prize a limited license to display your work on the Site, blog, across our social media network, in our email newsletters, and to promote future competitions.


5. Prize

The Prize is an Honour award. It is not a monetary reward.

Our jurors will review submissions and select, at their sole discretion, winning and shortlisted artists. The decision of our jurors is final.

A numbered certificate is issued to the winner.

Winners can participate in the pre-selection committee and submit participants for future awards.

We reserve right to revise, alter or amend the prize rules, or cancel the competition at any time if circumstances arise outside of our control.


6. Liability

The Master Art Prize and its affiliates, subsidiaries or licensors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, exemplary, extra-contractual, or punitive damages of any kind whatsoever, including lost revenues or lost profits, which may or does result from the use of, access to, or inability to use the Site, the Site Materials, User Materials, the services, products, information and other materials on and in and made available through the Site, regardless of legal theory, whether or not you or The Master Art Prize had been advised of the possibility or probability of such damages, and even if the remedies otherwise available fail of their essential purpose. If you are dissatisfied with the Site, or with any of these Terms, or feel The Master Art Prize has breached these Terms, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the Site.


7. Indemnification

You shall indemnify The Master Art Prize and its members, managers, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors and licensors against all claims, actions, suits, and other proceedings arising out of or incurred in connection with the Site and your use of the Site or services obtained through the Site, your fraud, violation of law, negligence, willful misconduct, or any other use of the Site, the Site Materials, User Materials, the services, products, information and other materials on, in and made available through the Site, (except to the extent attributable to The Master Art Prize), or any breach by you of these Terms and shall indemnify and hold The Master Art Prize Indemnitees harmless from and against all judgments, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees and attorneys’ disbursements) arising out of or incurred in connection with such claims.


8. Changes to these Terms

The Master Art Prize reserves the right at any time to modify, alter or update these Terms. Notice of any new or revised Terms, as well as the location of the new or revised statement, will be posted on the Site for at least twenty (20) days after the change. Your use of the Site following any changes means that you agree to follow and be bound by the terms as changed. Any change to these Terms shall be effective as to any visitor who has visited the Site before the change was made. The Master Art Prize reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to this Site and/or ability to use the services with or without notice for failure to comply with these Terms, for providing The Hopper Prize with untrue or inaccurate information about yourself, for infringement upon The Master Art Prize proprietary rights, or for any other reason whatsoever or for no reason.


9. Prices

The Master Art Prize is free for artists. 

Organizations (gallery, art fair, company, …) may participate as Premium candidate for prestigious award: Best Gallery, Best Solo Show, Best Curator, Best Catalogue

Participation fee is required to apply as an organization, but as you become a partner, your chances are much higher. Payment is non-refundable.


10. Data

The full name, e-mail, instagram account, website, biography, and portfolio of participants will be archived by The Master Art Prize.

If the personal data that The Master Art Prize have stored on you is no longer necessary for its original purpose, you have a “right to be forgotten” according to the General Data Protection Regulation. Here is a sample letter for requests for erasure according to Art. 17 GDPR. You can send this letter directly to the data protection officer at masterartprize[at]mail[dot]com
